Heavy, mutilated strains of electronic music with influence from the sounds of Detroit, UK and Germany – Laurel Halo’s music is shapeshifting, moody and ecstatic. The Michigan-born and Berlin-based artist has been a mainstay of the London-based label Hyperdub, who released her breakout, divisive debut album Quarantine in 2012. The record received critical acclaim, and was named Wire Magazine’s Album of the Year.

Her DJ-kicks compilation packs a lot in to just 60 minutes, featuring seven exclusives, including two of her own plus those from Rrose, Machinewoman, FIT Siegel, Nick León and Ikonika. Like everything Halo does, the many disparate sounds and textures of this 29 track trip all add up to something as thrilling and edgy as it is unpredictable and compelling.

Erosion Flow is known for releases on 3024 and Man Make Music and plays the opening set before Laurel Halo. Kasper Marott is about to launch his new Axces label this April but also just had his Keflavik EP released on Seilscheibenpfeiler to critical acclaim. He plays the closing set in Black Box.

The Concealed Sounds label takes charge of Red Box with Swedish-born and Copenhagen based Martinez, an artist with a long and impressive list of accolades. He teams up with Alex Celler who jets in for one of his anticipated visits here at Culture Box.

We have unlimited free Tuborg in the bars for all guests arriving before midnight so please come early.
