FACES OF CULTURE BOX: ADELINA

If you’re a regular at Culture Box you probably already met our cherished Night Manager Adelina. She’s an important reason why our venue keeps being a vibrant and stimulating affair. Get to know her thoughts on the electronic music scene in Copenhagen, lockdown and what she does, when she’s not working.

I started working at Culture Box… in my first years in Copenhagen and it was a great way to get accustomed to the city and meet new people.
I work at Culture Box because… I enjoy staying connected to the local night life and electronic music scene. Being involved with the music industry brings a certain balance to my lifestyle, it keeps me creative and energetic. Back in Romania, I used to enjoy the local scene and long afterhours, and here in Copenhagen, Culture Box is the only place that reminds me of home, in a way.
My favourite thing do to when I’m off work… is to spend time in nature, preferably hiking at the mountainside. If I am at home, I like to get lost in music, digging and selecting new tracks or working on some of my own. It’s really unlikely for me to be bored, with so many things to do on my list.
The lockdown has been… difficult for all of us, but I like to think of it as a time when I got to rediscover myself, from a personal, professional and artistic perspective. I spent the extra time developing myself and understanding more about the direction in which I want to go. I later realized how valuable this has been.
My best Culture Box memory… there are so many, it’s hard to choose one, especially when you work with such an amazing team, every night is great. I remember though a recent night when I played in Red Box back in October, along very good friends. The crowd was great and we really connected.
What I wish for the future of Copenhagen nightlife… is to develop more towards an after-hour culture, with longer parties and to really focus more on the visual experience, not just the musical one. Also, I would love to hear more minimal.
I prepare for a shift by… sleeping
When I’m not at Culture Box… I’m either studying or working for a tech company. I love my job, I love what I do – working in the field of sustainability is very fulfilling, I find so much purpose in it.
