PRACTICE SESSION JOURNAL: MARIANA ODDI

Published July 29, 2021

Mariana Oddi has been DJing for a year. She is always in charge of the music when throwing parties with her group of friends. She was encouraged by a good friend to sign up for a DJ workshop by Future Female Sounds in the summer 2020. Mariana then realized she wanted to learn more and to keep practicing. That’s what brings her to Culture Box’s Open Practice Sessions this Thursday in July. Read how it went, and her thoughts about music.

What’s your relation to electronic music?

Music is a way of connecting with my inner self. I can express through music and I can feel better through it. It is kind of a therapy.

What’s your relation to Culture Box?

Culture Box was the first club I visited when moving to Denmark, and it was a huge reference for electronic music. Also a way of getting to know new artists.

What’s your taste in music?

I love music in general, but if I were to choose a genre it would be house music

What did you practice today?

I wanted to practice with a CDJ, as I generally practice with controllers.

What worked well for you today?

Everything worked amazing, but the highlight was feeling welcome by the CB team – That made me feel relaxed and everything went smoothly.

What do you need to practice more?

My transitions.

Based on today’s practice do you have any notes to yourself?

I wanna keep on doing this!!
