PRACTICE SESSION JOURNAL: NEEL WISMANN

Published November 18, 2021

Neel just finished studying at the university and that makes a little more room for music and DJing, so she came by for Culture Box’s Open Practice Sessions today.

What’s your relation to electronic music?

My interest in techno is fairly new, but I have always loved electronic music with all its different genres. I have used music all my life to get in different moods and I think electronic music is great to get out of ones own head and into some calmer state of being. I have dealt with a lot mental health issues and music has been a big part of my healing process.

What’s your relation to Culture Box?

It’s the number one place to explore the electronic scene in Copenhagen and Denmark as well, and I think its great for the culture in Copenhagen to have a place like this that values music like Culture Box does.

For how long have you been DJing?

Two years, but due to Covid-19 I haven’t had the motivation to practice as much as I wanted to – hopefully that will change now.

What’s your taste in music?

Before it was old school disco and house, but now it’s mostly techno – I’m still trying to figure out which techno sub genre speaks to me the most, its difficult to choose. Maybe I don’t need to choose only one, anyway.

What are you going to practice today?

Mixing and flow, but I’m mostly here for the ability to hear the tracks really, really loud.
