Having been deeply involved in the Copenhagen scene for over a decade, Smokey is no stranger when it comes to clubbing and DJ’ing. Besides spinning music and hosting a weekly radio show on P3, she is also a DJ instructor at Future Female Sounds’ DJ Academy, which works towards inclusivity for females and gender minorities in the field of DJ’ing. We asked her for a recommendation of a rising talent on the electronic music scene.

Smokey: “I had the pleasure of having Sam aka Adexia as a DJ mentee at FFS DJ Academy this spring. Watching her go from zero to 100 in just a few months was truly special. Adexia has this authentic expression that feels like a natural extension of her aesthetics and identity. Adexia is arguably influenced by the late icon SOPHIE, but still there is something so fresh and pure about her style. She is one of those DJs that you just instantly believe. I guess it’s called X-factor. Her mixes sound like sugarcoated explosives; a combination of femme melodies, bratty vocals, and gritty basslines define her fierce yet cute style. “
