MARTIN GILLESHØJ RECOMMENDS XURI

Published September 21, 2022

Martin Gilleshøj is a Copenhagen-based DJ and curator affiliated with the Axces Recordings crew and the record shop Proton Records. Additionally, he is co-organizer of the KUNE Festival – A music and art festival locally anchored in the Scandinavian growth layer of artists and communities, taking place outside of Copenhagen. All in all, a passionate soul in the Copenhagen electronic music scene. Fri 30 September he share an all-nighter with Alfredo92 in Red Box at Culture Box (See event). We asked him for a recommendation of another local artist.

Martin Gilleshøj: “For my recommendation, I have chosen Copenhagen-based producer and DJ, Xuri. Xuri is no newcomer on the electronic scene, with releases on the Danish labels Amniote Editions and Janushoved, but for those of you who are not familiar with her productions yet, you’re in for a treat. Under the Xuri moniker, her tracks are often fast-paced in the realm of techno and trance, and for this feature, I’d like to highlight the track ‘Nectaries’ – out on a various artists compilation Aurora Lights on the label Space Trax with other great artists such as HLLW, OT2, and Dina! I would describe ‘Nectaries’ as a trippy and dreamy venture with a rolling bassline and a cute little lead with lots of reverb repeated throughout the track. Enjoy and drift away in Xuri’s sonic Aurora.

Bonus info:
I booked Xuri for a live set at KUNE Festival this year, where she performed together with John Cleworth, and it was superb. The two of them really managed to compose and perform a live set on an equal level to a good DJ set when it comes to complexity, momentum and interaction with the audience. Highly recommendable to catch the two of them live if you have the chance. Also, Xuri is a good DJ, so the conclusion must be: I’m a fan! :)”
